PLEIN AIR PAINTING / SKETCHING ADVENTURES

Come along with Robyn Reid and friends to various locations. These events are held on the second Thursday each month and if you are lost Contact Number is: 0409 449 973. For local sites in Shire & Georges River areas, meet 9am at site or endeavour to be at distant sites by 9am via public transport or car.

DAYTIME ACTIVITIES

Every Thursday during school terms we have PAINTING with fellow artists at the Sylvania Heights Community and Youth Club, 288 Box Road, Sylvania Heights, from 1pm to 4pm. Note: Not on during school holidays.

EVENING ACTIVITIES

CRITIQUE NIGHT

Critique Night gives a chance to have helpful and valuable appraisal of your completed works by one of our leading artists or by a visiting professional artist. This provides a great opportunity to learn what makes a painting “tick” and how to correct or improve a painting. Bring along two or three works. Even of you don’t bring a painting for appraisal you can still learn from the comments made on others’ works.

Works done in a tutorial or workshop or otherwise under instruction cannot be critiqued.

A separate panel of members judge the works on the night. Two certificates, Critique Night Award and Critique Night Encouragement Award  are issued to members.

SWAP NIGHT

On Swap Night, members  bring along a painting of their own, to swap with another member. Paintings are small, eg 8 inches by 10 inches, framed or unframed.The painting is given a number and each member is issued a separate number. Tickets are drawn out of a hat so no-one knows whose painting they will get to take home. You may receive the work of a highly esteemed artist!

TUTORIAL

Learn the techniques used by professional artists to create unique works of art. Each session will be for a duration of 1.5 hours.

This is a guided hands-on experience so bring your painting gear.

DEMONSTRATION

A complete demonstration, from blank canvas to finished work, by an experienced artist on how to paint. Various mediums and styles.
